Overview

The city clerk serves as the clerical officer for the City Council and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) coordinator. The clerk is also responsible for maintaining city records, administering elections, maintaining voter registration records, and administering oaths.

The Michigan Voter Information Center is a great place to find detailed information for upcoming elections. This includes previewing what exactly will be on the ballot so you know what to expect before receiving an absentee ballot or heading off to your precinct to vote.

Results are updated throughout the evening of an election.

Absentee Voting
If you would like to be added to the permanent ballot list, please contact the City Clerk at 231-894-4048 or email cityclerk@cityofwhitehall.org. Once you’re on the list, you’ll automatically receive a ballot approximately 45 days before each election. If you’ll be away at school or spending the winter in a warmer location, be sure to inform the clerk so your ballot can be sent to the correct address without delay.

Election Workers
The City is always seeking citizens interested in becoming Election workers. If you are interested in serving the City by helping with elections, please complete and return the application form below to the City Clerk’s office.
